New poll shows Trump trailing Biden and four other Democrats
A nationwide Fox News poll released Sunday shows President Donald Trump trailing former vice president Joe Biden and no fewer than four other Democratic contenders as early campaigning for the 2020 election begins to gain steam.
A separate survey of battleground states, by CBS, shows Democrats strongly favor Biden as the candidate most likely to beat Trump in next year’s elections.
The Fox poll showed Biden leading Trump by 49 percent to 39 percent among all registered voters nationwide, while Senator Bernie Sanders held nearly the same advantage over the president, at 49 percent to 40 percent.
The president does not officially launch his re-election campaign until Tuesday, at a rally-style event in a huge arena in Orlando, Florida.
But the new CBS poll confirms a clear Biden lead in battleground states among Democratic voters, as the crowded race for that party’s nomination begins to take shape.
A belief among Democratic voters that Biden is best positioned to defeat Trump in 2020 was cited by three-quarters of Democrats as a decisive factor in their support.
Trump Supporters Start Lining Up Nearly Two Days Before Tuesday Night’s Massive Orlando Reelection Campaign Kickoff Rally
Supporters of President Donald Trump started lining up for his reelection campaign kickoff rally in Orlando, Florida around 2:30 a.m. Monday–just under forty-two hours before the scheduled 8 p.m. Tuesday start. Trump said Monday morning over 100,000 ticket requests have been made for the rally that is being held at the Amway Center which has a reported capacity of 17,000 to 20,000 depending on the seating configuration.
The rally will feature President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, along with Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence. The campaign announced on Friday it will be holding an all-day “45 Fest” tailgate party outside the Amway Center with giant screen TVs to accommodate an expected massive celebratory overflow crowd.
Trump boasts of 100,000 requests to attend reelection rally
President Trump boasted on Monday that his campaign is setting up screens outside the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., to ensure people can see his reelection rally on Tuesday.
In a tweet, Trump said his campaign has already received more than 100,000 requests to attend the event.
“Our Country is doing great, far beyond what the haters & losers thought possible – and it will only get better!” Trump wrote.
Supporters have reportedly already started lining up outside the Amway Center, the arena for the NBA’s Orlando Magic that normally seats 20,000.
Trump tweeted last week that the ticket for reelection kickoff event is the “hottest” of all his campaign events.
Trump disputed the polls as “fake,” and his campaign later cut ties with some of its pollsters after the leak.
