In my experience even STEM PhDs whine and complain about learning about and programming simple macros that would take 100's to 1000's of human hours off their research. They chose to do the tasks manually or hire cheap labour (students) if they have the budget. Squandered funds in my view. But if there is that much resistance with the PhDs, just imagine how much success you'll have with middle-aged coal miners…

It is ridicule how older people in the developed world who only know how to use whatsapp and do not know what a URL is think that programming is as simple as throwing coal in a furnace (and that's not what coal mining is, coal mining is a hard job and requires spatial intelligence and geology knowledge, and i know what i'm saying). Plus, the world does not need new programmers. Moreover, i see in children these days (and i am a peculiar teacher graduated in geology) less knowledge of how a computer works.
