The cost of DRM games in Australia is ridiculous.. .DRM-$90-$120 each go to a retailer and pay $60-70 for same game

DRM is a waste of time and money for minimal, if ANY, gain.

I mean, come on! You throw down the gauntlet to hackers and they're gonna find a way to beat anything you put in their way. They live for the challenge!

If demos came back then pirating would slow down significantly

In this day and age it is so easy to get hold of pirated films it is unreal, but I'd really hasn't had any negative effects on the box office sales of films, records are still being broken.

Dvd players and DVDs are last century tech. Media players are the way to go. My WD TV Live streaming media player plays every format I've thrown at it.

To be fair, most games these days should be a lot more expensive than they are due to increased development costs, DRM or not, it's gonna be expensive.

DRM doesn't work nearly every game is copied and pirated. Hence this is why we have the awesome GOG.com.

region 4 ftw

Of course it decreases the value of the product, when a game is only operable if certain conditions are met, like always-online and all the other bullshit companies like to do, then you're severely limited in your options. It's not convenient and all it does is give the consumer a headache.

Smart Tech…. Needs to be on a closed Circuit… Same with power plants and such, with phones and such.

That's some hefty extrapolation you doing there.

the pirates eventually buying theory is nice, but the turnout rate cant be that high, its human nature to take all you can get and give nothing back. it'd be like if i gave a beggar a 20$ bill, what are the odds hes gonna say, i like the experience of having money im gonna contribute to society? two different mediums i know but human nature is linked on both fronts. that said, i am pro DRM, only if its proven to actually be helping, if its a hindrance to your actual consumer base buying the game then your doing… Read more »

in·ter·op·er·a·bil·i·ty geez do you people have a high school level education? and region lock was never a issue for pc users , just flash you disc drive or set it if the properties had a region free setting , they all had region selected in the least.

I stopped pirating when it was easier and safer to just buy the product. I can watch most things on Netflix or Amazon, I can listen to music ad-free on Amazon, and I buy my games when they are on sale. The final frontier is books.

For me, it's simple… If you need the internet to play a game, I won't pay for this game. So, my legit and wonderful collection of Civilization games, was bought before 2009. Now, after I offered 400$ to 2kGames, for a version of Civ 5, without the need of an internet connection… They refused. (400$, it's a true story). LONG LIVE TO PIRACY!
