Toss the sugar / carbs … add the fats (?); benefits of a LCHF diet approach (?) ; been exploring things here: http://www.dietdoctor.com … this after recommendations for my wife from her doctor, Dr. Jay Wortman: http://www.alive.com/health/dr-jay-wortman/ (article form 2007 … still fully applicable) … joined the LCHF diet with my wife, just over two months ago … another month before some blood work retesting for her … personally, though, 15 lbs simply seem to fall off … but, OK … OK … dropped the muffins, cookies and donuts … still, with the LCHF diet. it seems … that's been… Read more »

Doesn't your brain consume like 70% of the glucose your body produces? So no sugar means no brain function? Am I lying to myself because I like sugar… ?

Ben, please, stick to your area of expertise. Leave medicine to more skilled in art. Sugar and cancer… LOL. Think of water that we got delivered from the tap, think of air we breathe – everyday all day long. That's much closer to the true reason for cancer than single ingredient: sugar. Did Sucralose or Aspartame guys pay for this comment?

Too much of a thing is always going to be bad. You do however require sugars for healthy cell walls. The issue is processed foods laden with sugar (and other additives!) to convince you it tastes nice.
Eat fresh food and live healthy.
Good luck.

Great effort as always. Thanks for all you do. I'm looking for a recent post you did involving NASA playing with their temperature maps and it's shading. I checked the Suspicious0bservers YouTube home page but could not find that particular edition. I guess chronological dating is not utubes forte. I would be very grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Glad I don't fuck with: candy, sodas and fast food

🙂

Not claiming a "holier than thou" thing
Just glad I don't fuck with those foods

Somehow no one mentions that sugar is THE only source of energy our brain can function on. Lets get stupid!

On this date in History – October 16,1816 – The long drought finally ended in northern New England as rains arrived, extinguishing wildfires that had been very damaging during an extremely dry September1913 – The temperature in Downtown San Francisco soared to 101 degrees to equal their record for October. (The Weather Channel)1936 – The hottest reliable temperature in South America was set as Campo Gallo, Argentina hit 117.1°F1937 – An unlikely winter-like storm produced as much as ten inches of snow in Minnesota and Iowa.1942 – Cyclone in Bay of Bengal kills some 40,000 south of Calcutta India1963 –… Read more »

For all healthy & sick people, I highly recommend the book "What Your Doctor Doesn't Know About Nutrition Might Be Killing You" – by Dr. Ray Strand. This doctor explains the concept of oxidative stress & a pattern of deficiency of vitamins & minerals in people with longterm ailments, including cancer. He prescribes a nutritional therapy complimenting the role of medicines, and in some cases, the medicine can eventually be reduced or stopped completely. Another book i recommend is "The Vitamin Prescription For Life" – by Dr. Richard Firshein. Both books shatter the popular misconception that eating the right food… Read more »

Ireland…….The supposed Hurricane-Tropical storm was basically a storm in a teacup……nothing we haven't seen before, but the media here milked every minute of it. Yes 3 people died by trees falling, but let's put that into context:….back when Hurricane Harvey was in Texas, at the same time in India, 1500 + people died in floods, but that barely got a mention on the international news. Got the day off work though, with pay. Something tells me though, that when we actually do get hit with something serious…..that people will just remember this event, and go about their business and not… Read more »

Cancer needs sugar to survive,if a patient cut's the sugar go easy, take it out a bit slower than just cutting it as if you were struggling before with health you get hit hard as sugar is like a drug, vicious come down.

All carbohydrates are converted to glucose weather it's broccoli or cake. Your cells run on glucose, especially brain! To prevent high blood sugar and the need for an insulin release, always slow down the absorption with fiber, fat and protein. The longer higher glycemic foods are in the stomach, the slower the glucose release. Uh, sugar? Always eat your dessert last, like Grandma told you!

Dr. Mechoulan said do not isolate the CBDs and THCs as if you kill one thing chances are you have a couple other problems and you need the full spectrum. Just by a damn ounce of hi grade indica$$ 2-300 and soak it in everclear..I will not use naptha or anything synthetic..Rick Simpson was a genius I know he was still alive a year ago..he left Canada and was all over Europe lecturing…someone needs to make a movie about this man and we all need to start growing all the weed we can….I will never forget my 8000 mile bicycle… Read more »

Dr.refael. mechoulan won the Nobel prize for his 40/year research of only 9/of the 1000 cannabanoids that are still untested if we had 1000 labs working 100 years we could not test them all and they are adaptagens the adapt to what you need ..in fact there are more M cannabis receptors in the body than any other. If you don't use it the body forgets how.to live ! A minister told us we were going to hell for smoking it then he had a knee replacement and we gave him some spray topical and now he says it is… Read more »

Sugar is sugar…I'm not sure I buy that. The amount of sugar (lactose) in a couple of cups of whole milk is about the same as the amount of sugar (high fructose corn syrup) in a small bottle of coke. We know that there is a correlation between high levels of cholesterol in your bloodstream, and heart disease. As I recall, back in the day they used to say cholesterol is cholesterol (eggs are bad/butter is bad…avoid eggs and don't eat butter, eat margarine), then our knowledge advanced and we had to adjust our thinking (eggs aren't bad and margarine… Read more »

Too much sugar is definitely the cause of a lot of problems. As for cancer, I blame too much meats like pork. I once read a scientific study on meats, they listed about a dozen meats or more, all of which were pork products, and then proceeded to blame the processing, not the type of meats at all. I mean, you would think they would accidentally figure it out! It was ridiculous. Pork products are in everything these days. Gelatine is made from it, so that include things you may not think about like Jello, Marshmallows, gummy things like those… Read more »

In the strange sugar video, PET stands for "Positron Emission Tomography" and not "positive blah blah". I agree that sugar is bad in general, but this video about it is probably worse than the sugar, if that's even possible.

He's a brilliant guy who synthesizes all of the latest medical research into some amazing blog posts and a great book. He has been talking about the circadian mismatch research for years now (the research that just won the Nobel Prize for medicine this past month). It would be worth your time to explore his FB page, website and book… He specifically mentioned your video in this post… https://www.facebook.com/drjackkruse/posts/1921278354603176

There is a lot more to the 'health' story than 'sugar is bad'. Also do not be simplistic about acidity, The kidney can regulate the body's pH whether you drink vinegar or consume baking soda. The miniscule amounts of acid and base contributed by relatively pH neutral foods needs careful assessment.
Science is hard. Even well meaning smart professionals can disagree about the meaning of the sum of information available to us. Use some caution and do not jump to conclusions based on the latest data point or EU superstar. Good science is really hard.

Good afternoon, 0bservers! Ben, thanks for the reminder about sugar vs cancer. Not sure if it's 100% correct, but most of us, me most of all, could do with cutting back on our sugar intake. But….yuck. Cheers, y'all!

Yeah, cancer is fueled by monosaccharides that come from all the sugars and carbohydrates you eat, but so does rest of the body. Glucose fuels the cellular respiration, so I don't understand the point. Cancer or not, the over-consumption of carbohydrates is bad. But the lack of it strains the body and the immune system. It's easy to kill the cancer, the point is not to kill the patient along the way.

Curious, Ben … the L shells depicted in the diagram at 1:14 … they seem to be oriented to a level plane while the planet earth shows as tilted … does the planet arise amidst such level plane shells, in which case … i.e., if the L shells exist in a level plane … are the shells then independent of the planet and its tilt?
