The consumer base is OBVIOUSLY there for this store.
What's happening is they're being pushed out of the market by GOVERNMENT forces which raise taxes, wages, and management costs with NO regard for the market around them. Big government prefers big business to local ones.

This actually has to do with old people dying and young people leave small villages for the big cities. Also he can increase his prices and sell other products beside bread.

In any case, the bread that is bought from the local baker is much better than the bread you buy at the supermarket. They have nothing in common. One is good the other is not.

They should try some marketing strategies: quality versus price, let the smell of fresh baked bread gather around the store, create new bread, bread making lessons I don't know.
It's sad because I want to go someday to France and buy bread inside of one of this stores.
