Hi Justin it looks and sound great. Love shell pink too but I’d change the white plastic for aged white for cigar!

If the filtertron has 4conducter wiring, you could try wiring the filtertron in parallel to brighten it up a bit. Doesn't always work, but did wonders on my LP-type guitar that had a muddy neck pickup. It would make it sound fuller than a single coil, but more sparkly and bright than a humbucker.

I’m new to the whole world of electric guitars and oh my goodness there is so much more to them than what you would think!! Struggling to get my head around all those technical bits! What a beautiful instrument there’s so much variety to them! 🎸 x x

do you play past the twelfth fret? and is it comfortable playing past the twelfth fret on that guitar

You would probably like the jescar evo frets. I’m preferring them over stainless, and they are far superior to traditional frets.

Tone wood does make a difference, but less than the difference between a good nut and bridge compared to plastic nuts and cheap bridges. Scale length is a bigger difference than tone wood too. Tone wood makes a difference when combined with the right pickups, scale length, nut, bridge, nitro vs. Poly etc. Those “magic” sounding guitars are really just 5% better, because everything meshes perfectly. It can make a difference, but it has to be coordinated as a whole package.

VI + VI = 12 on the 12th fret anyway.

Cool guitar and great playing. I'm just wondering why you never tried the "Tele" type position with the neck and bridge pickups together?

Lovely guitar, shame about the colour. It's a free world though so each to his own.

Wow. What an incredible guitar. The HB to SC is the same as the 'VariCoil' switch on some Vintage/Fret King guitars. On those guitars, the transition from SC to HB is not subtle either, it starts very early on the dial.

It may not look so good, but it sounds fantastic 🙂 Further down in the comments one suggested to raise the polepieces on the Filtertron, but that is lowering the
pickup, AND raising the polepieces – and only on one side I think. Or you need to swap with one with at lower output. Regarding the blend on the bridge pickup, which
by the way is very innovative, they may have used a log pot (also called audio taper), where I suppose they should have used a linear taper, for this application.

Could be just me but when you played with the pickup selector in position 4 and fully wound in the humbucker I thought I could hear a slight "Chorus" effect. Anyhow, that's a lovely instrument Justin and I'm sure you'll treasure it for many years to come.

Interesting choice VIVI, nevertheless. VIVI => VI VI => 6 6 => 6+6=12. Hence the 12th fret. Good choice 🙂

something ive used myself for you filtertron is to add a capacitor cant remember which way high pass filter or low pass but adding uf upto 0.047 cap will filter the low end on both coils or one just depends what you want, but you can mess with the poles and lift the centre poles drop the a pole lower then the rest and that should brighten her up how this helps

Justin — awesome guitar. Question — do you think there's a big difference in sound between a strat with a pao ferro or rosewood neck, versus one with a maple neck? My guess is that, as you said with the body wood, it's less important than everyone seems to think — but I'd be interested in your thoughts. Thanks, and thanks for your wonderful site, videos, and all that you do!

Maybe a bit too drastic for now but, perhaps in the future, you could swap the locations of the Filtertron and singlecoil. Then you get a brighter sound as well as the typical "Strat Neck Position" sound.

Really well thought out creative originality in terms of the tonal options there. Looks and sounds fantastic. The hardtail gives it a very telecaster vibe sometimes. Absolute cracker.

I like the softened edges of the fingerboard between the frets – nice touch. I have always wanted to mess around with the filter-trons – I was even thinking, tron neck/P90 bridge. I guess the adjustment of the saddles (3 at a time) is good enough for intonation eh? The locking tuners are the best thing going. That instrumental at the end was excellent! Thanks for sharing.

My most sincere congrats on your purchase, Justin. Indeed this particular guitar offers a huge field for exploration and experimentation. I hope you'll find this beautiful instrument useful for the kind of music you play, with all the interesting pickup combinations.
Best regards, Coda.

Really enjoyed sitting vicarious to your guitar spec choices : while not what would have been my decisions, neither am I at loggerheads with any one. For instance, I wouldn't have chosen the filtertron – never found the look appealing. And yet, it makes a terrific addition in tone – that lofi element you mentioned – just killer. I wouldn't have picked shell pink, but yet that, along with the roasted maple and white pick guard, make the look. A little reminiscent of charvel's new dinky model. Anyway, nice guitar. I've found some Utubers' choices on custom guitars to be… Read more »

Nice guitar! FWIW – position 1 is the bridge pickup; with 2 in between; 3 being the middle; 4 in between & 5 being the neck. I know it's a small thing but it would be nice if we were all on the same page . . . Cheers!

That is pretty much the best-looking Strat I've ever seen, and I mean that in a positive way despite that most strats don't exactly set a high bar, with those cheap-looking boring white pick guards covering half the body (which doesn't actually look bad in this case). The pink goes sooo nicely with the tone of the wood
