SO MUCH CRINGE! Lawyer Sues Ex for Breach of Dating "Contract"

A spurned lover who also happens to be a lawyer sued his ex in Los Angeles Court over their alleged “contract” where she was required to not give him “the silent treatment” or “disappear” for extended periods of time.

And yes, we paid for the license for the Distracted Boyfriend Meme:

She was pretty happy to accept his money, I'll just say that. But you can't sue someone for keeping you in the friendzone. Plus this guy is a super control freak whose frankly disgusting actions should infuriate any reasonable person.

Sounds like he was "friend zoned" a long time ago!

Judging by his name, I'd guess he comes from a culture where men can buy women and that is acceptable.

Where to begin unpacking this mess? I'm not crazy about either one of these two. His email to her is a masterclass in abuse. Its a lot of words to say "Look what you made me do". She on the other hand accepted a lot of expensive stuff without considering herself in a romantic or sexual relationship with him. Is that not what a gold digger is? Please tell me this will get laughed out of the first courtroom it sees.

Did she know that he was under the impression their "friendship" was a relationship? i.e. did she lead him on for years?

He would have been better off "dating" an escort. Being straight forward about this relationship it would have been cheaper for him.

This sort of situation really highlights the thin line between dating and prostitution.

If only we could just be honest about these things at the outset.

Lol this guy was a sugar daddy without realizing it for years. Then caught on but had such low self esteem that he let it go on even longer and now can't swallow his pride and move on. I hope the judge gives him a crash landing back into reality. edit Omg hahahahaha He thought he was in a relationship for 14 YEARS and she sums it up as they were friends and then dated for 4 months. Omg this guy was deep in the friendzone and was too stupid to admit it to himself.

OFF-Topic, what's your take on the FTC-YOUTUBE-COPPA thingy that's got most content creators up in arms these last few weeks?

Maybe he is a naiive oil sheik and she's a manipulative gold-digger. It definitely sounds like she manipulated him for money and he was dumb enough to not recognize he was being taken advantage of for YEARS and hundreds of thousands of dollars. I'll grant him the blunt language in his suit as it was written in legalese. Update: After reading his email to her, I have changed my mind. I am now an Islamophobe. He is a shitbag. She definitely presented more and better evidence than he had. Surely his lawyers should have asked for all email and text… Read more »

What is the legal definition of prostitution anyway? I mean from a factual, legal stand point, what is the difference between a sugar daddy/mommy relationship versus any relationship where one side is providing financial support for the other?

Your claim that poor people didn't marry for love isn't backed up by facts and is most likely due to your class in fact the only evidence we have of people marrying for things other than love are the upper classes. Joe the sharecropper and Minnie who lived in the next holler didn't marry for money

Btw, if she were a gold digger, she wouldn't have left her stuff (yanno, the stuff he kept out of the "goodness of his heart") behind. This sounds more like a woman trying to escape a bad scenario asap, and sacrificing whatever she needed to leave behind to get away.

Also, in his email he is clearly telling her NOT to return things she offered to return, and that if she left them for him at the front desk that he wouldn't take them.

The stuff he later sued her over.

Well, this is the natural step after consent forms for having sex, i mean, this is clearly a logical move.
So she used him for spending money and then got tired and wanted to drop him.
I mean he's still a schmuck but its pretty obvious that she stayed for the money and then found a new and exciting guy.

Its abuse, monetary for sure, but its still abuse. Now he's clearly crazy enough to think suing her to try to keep her with him is a resonable solution instead of just dropping the hoe.

This is a terrifying situation. The most dangerous window of time for a woman in a an abusive relationship is when she breaks up with the controlling person. This demand for a face to face meeting really scared me. I see nothing to be gained by the woman in this meeting and it would be dangerous for her to do so.

Ok, so it seemed a little off the rails and mildly controlling until you reached the end of the email.

Nice guy syndrome confirmed. That dude is just a turd, and threatening someone he “loves” with all that junk? Not ok.

I can understand prenups and other forms of domestic contracts existing for the purpose of sorting out who gets what if a divorce or other separation occurs (to reduce the ugliness of such a situation and ensure that there would be penalties if someone cheated), and maybe even in situations where there is a massive wealth disparity where you don't want your partner to mooch off of you, but this kind of thing is far too easy to take to ridiculous extremes and/or into the realm of prostitution (granted, I'm not going to take a moral stance on that, but… Read more »
