6.17..Wrong.conquerors of India were Arabs, but they all had Turkish slave boys, so when they were in India, they left behind their favorite slave boys to rule over their conquered territories. But good to see Luteyans digging into Indian History than learning Marxism and Leninism.

Excellent back-office Analysis which explains the fundamental information of the issue. This region is the ground for future Conflicts due to Turkish & American greed. The Kurds have been backstabbed again. Nathan Sekhar Sydney, Australia.

You have done a commendable job of decluttering what is a very messy political, military and human tragedy. But, I don't think I have understood the issue completely. Perhaps, I have to read more on this issue. If the Kurds can be provided a land carved out of existing countries, the problem will be resolved. Instead, the US and Russia are arming everyone to fight and kill each other. Trump turns out to be the most untrustworthy amongst the world leaders. For him, it is a business decision, like pulling capital out of an ailing company.

What a mess… Kudos to Oman for being tolerant of many populations and relatively conflict-free for so long.

No, a lot of ISIS recruits came from Arab and non Arab western families. Not so many were Syrian refugees as you imply. That is why a large number of the IS prisoners held by the SDF and Kurds are persona non grata in their home countries. You also leave out a lot of things like Iran Iraq War , Invasion of Kuwait. Bin Laden didn't just start hating the USA for nothing. He wanted them out of the Kingdom. You could go back even further and talk about the CIA overturning a freely elected government in Iran and installing… Read more »

You took the name Saudi Arabia after 14 mins (Al-Saud family is the most powerful family in the middle east). When you say the islands of stability, Saudi Arabia is at the top, followed by UAE, Qatar, and Oman. These countries have remained unaffected by any uprisings, and also there is a smooth transition of power from one king to other. Even in Iran, the Shah was overthrown due to an earlier uprising. Secondly, Putin just not showed up in the conflict from nowhere, but was invited by Assad thereby not violating international laws. But US did violate by invading… Read more »

When Bangladesh tried and hanged the criminals from the 1971 genocide, Turkey withdrew its ambassador in Dacca in protest.

Superb Analysis, no one could had offered such a clear and insightful journey of three last 20 years in the Middle East region. Pity the Kurds though.

WHY do these many thousand year old countries/regions still be "third world" and North America, ie: US and Canada, and Australia, New Zealand are only a few hundred years old , but are called "first world", and need to babysit, police and fund these third world messes that call themselves countries.?

Is Assad still alive. We hear about him all the time but I haven’t seen any footage of the man in a long while. Is Assad still alive?
Also Turkey is not the Middle East. It’s Eurasia.

Fab explaining … had seen a hell lot of documentaries and news about mid east crisis but with so many factions revilving around there it was a muddle … one thing which probably was left out is role of Russia after America withdrew.

This CTC on the Middle East meddle is, I’m afraid, recluttering rather than decluttering. May be you wanted to be very conservative in approaching the subject, may be you preferred to be politically correct over the real issues. In order to declutter one needs to start with the origin of Islam itself, or at the least from the massacre of Karbala. The more logical approach could be to start with the dismantling of the Ottoman Empire by the Brits, who have wreaked havoc with every region they have exited from, after the WW-I. More realistically one could start with the… Read more »

You really are wrong on critical points. President Erdogan contrary to your claims isn't attacking Kurds, his target is a Terrorist group SDF formally YPG aka PKK. Kurds in Turkey exploit all walks of life including Former president of Turkey Turgut Ozal an ethnic Kurd, Military , Popular artist etc… the issue SDF are as much terrorist and a threat as is ISIS as is Gulen .
