Thousands of Arrests Won’t Stop Hong Kong Protests, Movement Hits Half Year Mark
Following the sieges on the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Polytechnic University, the local district council elections saw a major victory for democratic candidates across the region. Although the extradition bill that sparked the movement was withdrawn months ago, the movement became about the future of the special administrative region, with four of the five demands still unaddressed. Last week marked the six month anniversary and saw one of the largest marches since the movement’s start in June.

I dont know if Hong Kong and China could ever reconcile their differences.
Hong Kong loves freedom and hates lies.
China loves lies and hates freedom.

Many of us in the US want to fight China too, but I don't know if we can have that yet. Stay strong, Hong Kong.

The British can't help Hong Kong or anyone now. Their labour party squandered the last 3 + years to get out in front of economic independence but now have irreparably damaged their future economy so much that major cuts in military projects had to be implemented. Now, their millitary and economy will rely on America much like Canada. The Brits may not have signed up for that, but Labour and their useful idiots have created this. Hong Kong should court America.America will increasing set up on the First chain of Islands around China and so will Japan but not with… Read more »

15:53Canadian here, didn't know that Andrew Scheer had such a strong stance for Hong Kong, good for him. He ultimately got more vote than Trudeau did but Trudeau still got re-elected. Kind of like how Hillary Clinton got more votes than Trump but Trump got elected, except while America won, Canada lost. Anyways, it looks like Andrew Scheer is stepping down as Conservative Party Leader. We'll see who replaces him. I hope they're more right-wing because he calls himself a centrist and I don't much like that. I voted for the People's Party of Canada which sounds socialist but it… Read more »

The police offer no objection to the protest.
Protesters show up without masks or weapons.

Two weeks later every protester mysteriously disappears.

It’s kind of strange that the speaker spoke in English instead of Cantonese… seems too much of a stunt for Western Media.

Lol "They gave us freedom of speech, freedom of press"
No they said they did, but you're still under the lock and key of china. You just don't know it because you're not the "press" editor. Clearly china has no problem kidnapping people from HK if they push their "freedoms" too far.

HK, NZ, AU, USA, CA we are all brothers, let us unite to help HK in its time of greatest need. UK, you have an obligation to help HK as the terms of transfer to CH is not happening in accordance with the treaty.

The pop up exhibit on police brutality and human rights abuses is a great idea.
It would be worth doing the same in other cities around the world.

3:21 there's a reason she's speaking in English. Yes, English is a major language in Hong Kong, but it isn't a message for the people of Hong Kong.

I have to say – Hong Kong protesters are among the most creative ones I've seen. Using umbrellas as cover, thumb wars, using umbrella handles to form hearts, laser pointers, lights, they're mostly peaceful, but aren't afraid to fight in self defence…

Hong Kongers need to start bypassing government in all possible areas or walks of life by using the latest technologies. Wishing them luck and never back down! CCP has to end.
